Fire Weather Watch until 11am Friday counties in Red above.
As expected the drought got worse over the past week. Most of North Alabama is now under extreme drought conditions. Don’t expect the burn ban to be lifted any time soon. We need about 18 inches of rain between now and the end of January to get out of the drought within three months. I don’t expect that to happen. It looks like this drought will continue into at least April.
Mostly cloudy and warm this evening ahead of a strong cold front. A few passing showers will be possible through Midnight but widespread rain is not going to happen. A refreshing north breeze at 10-15 will greet you early Friday morning.
Expect cooler weather to last into next week with highs in the 70s and lows in the 40s. It looks like we will go at least 10 more days before any frost or freeze happens.
Have a great night.
