College Football is back! Whether you scream "Roll Tide" or "War Eagle" it's an exciting time of year. It's not quite football weather yet, however. The early season games often feature summer-like weather and that will be the case for most of you if you plan on rooting your favorite team on to victory in person. Here's a forecast breakdown for teams of local interest:
Alabama vs. Virginia Tech
Alabama begins their quest for a 3rd consecutive National Championship as the preseason #1 team in the country. The Crimson Tide head to Atlanta to take on Virginia Tech. Tech isn't highly touted this year, but after early season stumbles in the last few years, they do the Hokie Pokie and turn their season around (that's my lame attempt at being funny...LOL.)
Weather won't be an issue during the game in the climate-controlled Georgia Dome. Rain though is a possibilty for your pre-game tailgating.
Showers remain possible for your after game celebrating in Hotlanta.
Auburn vs. Washington State
Auburn kicks off the Gus Malzahn era taking on visiting Pac-10 foe, Washington State, at Jordan-Hare Stadium Saturday evening. Be sure to pack the rain gear for this one. Showers and storms will be scattered around the area and if they hit the stadium heavy downpours can be expected.
Tennessee vs. Austin Peay
It's a new era for Tennessee as well as Butch Jones takes over the head coaching reins. I'm forecasting a 1-0 start as lower division Austin Peay makes the cross-state trip to Knoxville. A passing shower or storm is possible for this game as well, so if you plan on rooting on the Vols in person, pack some rain gear.
Alabama A&M at Grambling State
This is the only game rain won't be a concern at, but you'll still probably end up soaking...from sweating so much! Sweltering heat and high humidity will be the concern at kickoff. Temperatures should be better by the 4th quarter, but it's still going to very warm and humid.
