It's a fantastic looking Friday. A cold front that brought yet another round of showers and storms across the area yesterday has settled to our south. A north breeze is bringing drier air into the area. Temperatures will stay warm, but with lower humidity today, it won't feel nearly as steamy as it has in recent days.
The break in the rain is a welcome sight. We've already exceeded our average rainfall for the entire month and it's only halfway over! Here's how rain stacks up for the month through yesterday:
July 2013 Average July Wettest July
Huntsville 8.07" 4.05" 14.81"
Muscle Shoals 5.09" 4.30" 14.60"
After a soggy start to the month, the break in the rain is nice....however it's going to be brief. Shower and storm chances will return for the weekend.
An upper level low pressure system is forming over the upper Ohio River valley this morning.
Instead of tracking to the east as storms systems typically do, this one will retrograde to the west-southwest over the weekend.
