As of Wednesday evening, we have our 1st named tropical system, TS Andrea in the Gulf of Mexico. Andrea is forecast to make landfall later today near the Florida Big Bend region, move through southeast GA, and up the east coast.
We, here in the TN Valley, won’t feel much of an effect from the tropical storm besides a surge of tropical moisture. That, combined, with an approaching cold front from the west, will bring scattered showers and thunderstorms through Friday night.
Some scattered showers and thunderstorms are expected to develop this afternoon but they won’t be as widespread or as heavy as Wednesday’s storms.
The cold front will slide through the TN Valley late tonight throughout the day on Friday. That will bring a better chance for widespread showers and thunderstorms. Severe weather is not expected but 30mph wind gusts, frequent lightning, and heavy rain will be possible. Flash flooding will be our main concern through Friday evening.
Rain should come to an end Friday evening, allowing for a dry weekend.
