Get ready to ring in the new year on a wet note. Widespread rain will push in just in time for the clock to strike midnight and it looks like we'll stay wet for much of first day of 2013.
Widespread rain is already in progress to our west across Arkansas, Oklahoma and Texas at 11am. That moisture is headed in our direction and will be slow to leave through the day tomorrow. A few showers will reach NW Alabama this afternoon, but the steady rain won't arrive until later this evening. WAFF 48 Pinpoint Predictor shows the more significant rain hitting the Shoals by 8pm.
By the time the clock strikes 12, most of us will be wet.
Widespread, steady rain will continue through tomorrow morning.
And it looks like the rain won't be completely gone for most of us until late in the day Tuesday.
This looks like a good soaker as well. The latest rainfall forecast gives most of area an inch to an inch and a half of rain before it's all over with.
Have a happy and safe New Year's Eve and Day. And best wishes to you for the new year from all of us on the WAFF 48 Storm Team!
