If our weather here lately were gears in a car, we would be getting a new transmission rather quickly from the stripping of gears.
We went from very hot and very dry weather to rain and storms coupled with milder temperatures real quick this past week!
What's happening is this...an upper-level trough has dropped into the Southern Plains. We're getting moisture and lift here in the Valley because of the trough. More moisture equals less heat. Not to mention the fact that rain tends to cool things down as well.
The upper-level winds are moving from south to north and therefore so are our showers and storms. But as this trough weakens, so goes our opportunity for wet weather. And although we still have rain chances in the forecast all week, they will not be as significant as they will be over the next couple of days.
