We're headed back into the upper 90s to low 100s again this afternoon. Here are the forecasted temperatures from WAFF 48 Pinpoint Predictor at 4pm today:
Yesterday's 102 in Huntsville set a new record high for July 4th, breaking the old record of 100 set back in 1928. We could tie or perhaps break another today. Today's record is 100 again, also set in 1928.
103 in Muscle Shoals yesterday was not a record, but today could be different. The record for today is 101 set last in 1948.
Even if you don't hit triple digits today, it will feel like it with higher humidity. The Heat Index is forecast to climb above 100 today across most of the area.
Portions of NW Alabama are under a Heat Advisory from Noon until 7pm.
A few storms will likely pop-up with the afternoon heat. As is usually the case with summer-time storms, a few could be strong to severe with isolated damaging wind gusts the main threat. The most likely areas to see those strong storms today will be to the east of I-65 later this afternoon into the early evening hours.
