We're certainly headed in that direction. At a little more than halfway through the summer season we're already in top 6! Here's how we rank through July 27th:
So far the summer of 2011 is coming in as the 6th hottest with an average temperature of 81.5 degrees. And we're keeping pace with last summer's brutal heat. This summer we've had 55 days 90+ and 26 at 95+. In the summer of 2010 at this point we had seen 52 days 90+ and 23 at 95+. The heat in 2010 continued through September and we ended the year with 103 days 90 and higher, and 56 at or above 95!
We still have a long way to go to match those numbers, but a check of the long range temperature forecast shows we could challenge those totals. More above average temperatures are looking likely for the month of August:
